My name is Serena, although some know me as Nalini, and some others, as Altair. Doesn't really matter for I love each of those names and their meanings.
I lived most of my life in Cambrils, a tiny village in the catalan coast, Spain. I grew up slowly, watching musicals and wondering what life would be like if people fought less and sang more.
Then one rainy day when I was 18, I decided that I was tired and I sent it all to hell. I quit arts school, moved to a different city, found a fun job, made a bunch of new friends and came out of the closet. My life has only gotten better and better (and better!) since then.
After a few months living in India and offering my work to a non-profit organization, I was offered a position at headquarters of said non-profit, and so I moved here, to freezing, beautiful, peaceful, transforming, freeing, boring, wonderful, cozy upstate New York.
I had always been obsessed with NYC and this obsession has only grown since I've been living here, visiting the city as often as I can. One day, I will live in NYC. Not soon, and not forever. But I know one day I'll happen. For now, I'm happy walking down Broadway at least once a month.
In August of 2008 I'm going back to Spain, to finish what I had started (Arts School) only I'm a totally different individual now. A lot more free, and a lot more grounded. With clear goals, but flexible enough to try different paths. Willing to make mistakes and learn from them, eager to experience what life has to offer, and most of all: willing to follow my true dreams, no matter how crazy they seem. At the moment, I'm writing the book and lyrics for a musical called Synchrony City.
I'm totally obsessed with a few Broadway divas and I have no problems admitting that I sing in the shower, that my iPod is as important to me as any other of my body parts, that I've made mistakes and don't regret them, and that I would do anything for my friends and family except for giving up my freedom.
